There is a reason to celebrate on the last day of this month. It's Merdeka (freedom in the Malay language) and the 51st year of independence for Malaysia. Freedom comes with a price and it is my hope that every Malaysian will cherish and honour Merdeka by loving their fellow Malaysians regardless of race, colour and creed. For those who are away from the country and in the US, keep a lookout for one of the most recognisable symbols in the Big Apple (New York) as the Empire State Building will be lit up with the colours of the Bendera (Malaysian flag) on 21 August 2008 (that's why MBL has to post this before 21 August 2008..hehhhe). The colours of the Bendera will be displayed on the east side of the building. Why so? Well, the Empire State Building is lighting up its building in honour of individual nations taking part in the on-going Olympics in Beijing. So it's not just for Malaysia but for other nations as well. What is special here is that there will be a double display of the Bendera in marking our participation in the Olympics and the celebration of the nation's 51st year of independence in the month of August. Photographs of the Merdeka banner and flags were taken at FRIM and here's an early greeting of Happy Merdeka from MBL to all Malaysians wherever you are.

Happy Merdeka to you and to all Malaysians! The other day, someone pointed out to me that our Malaysian flag look somewhat similar to the USA flag . I found it true minus some details. You can actually mistaken our flag for US flag from far.
Happy Merdeka to you, MBL.
